Morocco, Mauritania Set to Promote Cooperation in Security

Rabat - Morocco and Mauritania have agreed to promote their security cooperation, notably against transnational organized crime, terrorism, illegal migration and drug trafficking.

"The interior ministries of the two countries have decided to consolidate cooperation through an agreement on security cooperation, covering the fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, illegal migration and drug trafficking", said a joint statement issued following a meeting, held Monday in Rabat, between the Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad, Minister-Delegate for the Interior Cherki Drais and Mauritanian Interior and Decentralization Minister, Mohamed Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Mohamed Rare.

During this meeting, both parties also agreed to "promote the exchange of information and expertise between the two departments."
