Morocco Injects 175 Million Dirhams to Support 70 Film projects in 2011-2014
Rabat - Morocco has injected 175 million dirhams to support 70 film projects over the 2011-2014 period, Communication Minister, Government Spokesman Mustapha El Khalfi said Tuesday in Rabat.
"The annual film production support rose from 60 to 75 million dirhams in 2015, following the launch of an initiative aimed to support documentary films interested in culture, history and Sahara-Hassani region", El Khalfi said at the question time of the House of Representatives.
Foreign investments in the industry of cinema in the kingdom have multiplied 11 times between 2011 and 2014, to rise from 98 million dirhams to 1.16 billion dirhams, he added.
The minister also noted that the first documentary film productions on history and the Sahara-Hassani culture will be screened during the first national festival of documentary films on the Sahara in April 2016.
