Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee to Hold 9th Annual Meeting Thursday in Brussels

Brussels – The Morocco-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee (CPM) will hold its 9th annual meeting on Thursday at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

This meeting, to be co-chaired by Moroccan MP Abderrahim Atmoun and MEP Ines Ayala Sender will examine "the annual outcome and achievements of this important body for the political cooperation between Morocco and the EU," says a press release of CPM, received by the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).

The same source adds that the meeting will also be an opportunity to “shed light on Morocco's experience and efforts to face the scourges occurring in the Euro- Mediterranean region.”

The two parties will also tackle themes related to the European Neighborhood Policy, security and migration issues, human development and the fight against terrorism and radicalism, economic and trade cooperation, as well as the EU-Morocco-AU ties.

“As part of the Advanced Status linking the Kingdom of Morocco to the EU, the members of the Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee will adopt recommendations that should contribute to the strengthening and preservation of peace and security, as well as to the consolidation of cooperation and solidarity with Europe,” according to the Moroccan presidency of the Committee.

It notes that its members will also highlight Morocco’s commitment to promoting parliamentary cooperation, fostering bilateral links with Europe and tripartite relations between Europe, Morocco, and Africa, with the ambition of supporting the Moroccan momentum and accelerating the pace of Morocco-EU partnership.
