Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee Holds 9th Annual Meeting in Brussels

Brussels - The Morocco-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee held, Thursday, its ninth annual meeting at the European Parliament in Brussels, with a view to consolidating the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the EU.

The meeting, co-chaired by Moroccan MP Abderrahim Atmoun and MEP Ines Ayala Sender, was an opportunity to assess the outcome of this important body for political cooperation between Morocco and the European Union, and to reflect on ways of promoting this partnership both bilaterally and within the framework of the triangular cooperation EU-Morocco-Africa.

"Morocco is a privileged partner of the EU, and thanks to this Joint Parliamentary Committee, we have been able to strengthen this sincere dialogue which allows us to move forward and work together on a more consolidated basis", said Ayala Sender.

For his part, MP Abderrahim Atmoun said that this meeting testifies to the "irreversible commitment" of Morocco and the EU to strengthening their cooperation in several areas.

The 9th meeting of the Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee focuses particularly on “the European neighborhood policy", "security and migration issues", "human development and the fight against terrorism and radicalism", "economic and commercial cooperation" as well as "EU-Morocco-African Union relations".
