Morocco, Djibouti Ink Cooperation Agreement on Energy and Mining

Rabat - Morocco and Djibouti signed, Monday in Rabat a framework agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, mining and geology. Signed by Minister of Energy, Mining and Environment Aziz Rabbah and Minister of Energy in charge of Natural Resources of the Republic of Djibouti Yonis Ali Guedi, this agreement is for exchanging and discussing means likely to develop bilateral cooperation, in particular between stakeholders and investors of the two countries in the energy and mining sectors, as well as the opportunities offered in Morocco and Djibouti in these fields. The framework agreement is also part of Morocco's special interest in cooperation with the countries of the African continent in accordance with the far-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI aimed at supporting the sustainable development of African countries, mainly through the sharing of expertise and the strengthening of win-win partnerships, according to the Ministry of Energy, Mining and the Environment. In a statement to the press on this occasion, Ali Guedi, who is visiting the Kingdom from December 15 to 18, stressed that his country seeks to strengthen this cooperation while benefiting from the Moroccan expertise in energy and mining which could contribute to the development of renewable energy in Djibouti.

For his part, Rabbah announced that the two countries share broad prospects for cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, electricity, geology, mining, technical cooperation and human resources training, welcoming the solid historical relations between Morocco and Djibouti at the political level.
