Moroccan, Spanish, Portuguese and French gendarmes make joint patrols in summer

Madrid - Members of Morocco's royal gendarmerie will participate, during the summer, in joint patrol with Spanish, French and Portuguese counterparts to ensure security of citizens and tourists, a Spanish official source said on Monday.

This initiative seeks to coordinate security in areas with an important inflow of tourists mainly beaches, hotels and tourist residences, said the Spanish interior ministry in a statement.

These patrols, part of Spain's "Plan Tourisme Sûr", will start working as of this weekend and during the whole summer in the Spanish regions of Andalusia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and the Algarve region in Portugal, as well as the Spanish and Moroccan territorial waters and air spaces, the same source added.
