The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the excellent quality of relations between the two countries which are marking this year 50 years of diplomatic ties and stress the need to promote economic exchanges and trade.

The two officials applauded the decision to convene the 1st session of the high joint commission in the first quarter of 2015 to give a new impetus to economic exchanges.

The Moroccan minister also welcomed the Pacific Alliance decision to open a trade office in Casablanca as a move with a particular importance, given that Morocco's geographic location entitles it to become a platform for exports to Africa.

Mezouar also briefed the Peruvian prime minister on evolutions in the Moroccan Sahara issue and the autonomy plan put forward by Morocco to settle the issue, before praising Peru's "constant position" of support to efforts of the United Nations and the Security Council to reach a consensus-based political settlement to the problem.
