Accra - The Moroccan medical aid sent to several African countries following the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI is a commendable initiative that shows intra-African solidarity, said the secretary General of the Pan-African Students Union (UPE, based in Accra), Peter Kwasi Kodje. "The kindness of HM King Mohammed VI is an example of how African countries can support each other during crises," Kodje pointed out in a release.

HM the King's decision to send medical aid to several African countries will surely help the continent in its fight against the novel coronavirus, "particularly as schools have reopened in some regions," he added. The UPE has called on African countries to follow the example of Morocco and to join efforts to face this pandemic.

The Moroccan aid sent to several African countries is intended to provide protective medical equipment to support these countries in their efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical aid includes some 8 million medical masks, 900,000 protective visors, 600,000 hygiene caps, 60,000 medical gowns, 30,000 liters of hydroalcoholic gel, 75,000 boxes of chloroquine and 15,000 boxes of Azithromycin.

This solidarity action is part of the implementation of the Initiative launched by HM the King on April 13, 2020, as a pragmatic and action-oriented approach, intended to the brotherly African countries, enabling the sharing of experiences and good practices and aiming to establish an operational framework in order to support their efforts in the various phases of the management of the pandemic.
