Lundi 30 Mars 2020

Rabat - The ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the continuation of distance learning and the postponement of the spring holidays.

Distance teaching and learning will continue, either through TV channels, dedicated digital content or virtual classes on the various electronic platforms, said a statement by the ministry, stressing that the spring holidays, initially planned, will be postponed for all training cycles under the departments of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The purpose of this measure is to enable pupils and students to continue distance learning and to pursue the courses programmed, it stated, adding that tutoring courses will be integrated, gradually, over the next few weeks.

This decision is part of the preventive measures undertaken by Morocco to fight the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), including containment, and "aims to ensure educational continuity and avoid the negative impact that the interruption of courses could have on school performance," noted the statement.

The ministry also commended the sense of patriotism shown by the teachers, trainers, inspectors, directors and all the administrative, educational and technical staff at the central, regional and provincial levels, as well as the efforts they made to prepare the filmed courses to enable students to continue their studies during this exceptional situation.

It also called for greater mobilization and commitment to the best interests of learners, urging parents to encourage their children to stay at home and to show diligence and a sense of responsibility so that they can continue their education.
