Mexican trade office in Morocco, landmark in Mexico's relations with Africa- Foreign Ministry

Mexico City - The opening of a Mexican trade office in Casablanca is a landmark in Mexico's efforts to strengthen relations with Africa in 2014, Mexican Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The recent opening of this office, the first of its kind in Africa, represents a major headway in Mexico's quest to beef up relations with African countries, the Ministry said in a statement.

The office was opened last November during a ceremony attended by Morocco's Minister delegate to the Foreign Minister, Mbarka Bouaida and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos de Icaza.

Morocco was chosen to host the Mexican trade office thanks to its political stability and its economic and social growth in addition to its geographic location as a gate towards the rest of the African continent, the Ministry said.
