Mediterranean Games (400m hurdles Women): Lambarki, Lhabz get Morocco gold and silver

Mersin - Moroccan athlete Hayat Lambarki won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles, while fellow countrywoman Lamia Lhabz won the silver medal on Thursday in Mersin (southern Turkey) as part of the 17th Mediterranean Games (June 20-30).

Lambarki and Lhabz clocked 55sec and 55sec 27/100 and 51/100, while Italian Manuela Gentili came third with 55sec 89/100.

Lambarki, 25 years, offered Morocco its fourth gold medal at the Games after those won by Siham Hilali (1500m), Judoka Yassine Moudatir (-60 kg) and Taekwondo player Issam Chernoubi (- 80 kg).

So far, Morocco is placed 12th with a total of 14 medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze).
