MINURSO: Washington welcomes the unanimous adoption of the resolution of the Security Council
Washington - The United States welcomes the adoption unanimously by the Security Council of the United Nations, the 2099 resolution on the Sahara, which extended the mandate of MINURSO, said Patrick Ventrell deputy State Department spokesman.

"This resolution renewing the mandate of MINURSO for a year,contains additional language encouraging efforts and further progress on human rights," said Ventrell, in a press statement.
The Security Council has extended the UN the mandate of MINURSO on Thursday, for a year until April 30, 2014, and strengthened its call to Algeria for a census of the population in the Tindouf camps.
In its resolution adopted unanimously by its fifteen members, the Council calls on the parties and neighboring States to cooperate "fully with the United Nations and with each other and engage more decisively to end the current impasse and move towards a political solution. "
