MASEN : Acwa-Sener grouping picked to develop Noor II and Noor III solar projects
Rabat - The grouping made up of Acwa Power and Sener was picked by the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) to develop the phases I and II of Ouarzazate's Noor solar complex.

MASEN announced, on Friday in a statement, that the invitation to tender for the design, funding, building, exploitation and maintenance of solar plants Noor II and Noor III was won by the Acwa-Sener grouping.
This announcement follows the lifting of funding concluded on Dec. 19, 2014, in the presence of renown backers for the development of Noor II and Noor III under the Noor Plan which was launched by HM King Mohammed VI and which has made strides towards the objectives as laid in this energy and environmental strategy.
According to the agency, Noor II will use the solar thermal technology with parabolic troughs like Noor I. The plant will have a capacity of 200 MW with a storage capacity of 7 hours, while the kWh price during rush hours will stand at 1.36 dirhams.
As for Noor III, it will introduce a technological diversification with a solar thermal sub-technology, CSP tower, which will have a capacity of 150 MW with a storage capacity of 7 to 8 hours, while the kWh price during rush hours will stand at 1.42 dirhams, the source added.
