Kidnapped in Mali, a French hostage appeals for help
Kidnapped on November 20 in the west of by the Islamist movement Mujao, Gilberto Rodriguez Leal appeared for the first time in a video posted on Monday.

The Frenchman crossed into Mali from Mauritania in a camper van when he was kidnapped in Diéma, a town near the border with Senegal and Mauritania. Pictured in the video flanked by two armed men, the French 61 year old, born in Portugal, read a short statement in which he identified himself and date of the video as Sunday, 25 November.
"I asked the French government to respond quickly to their demands," continues the hostage, but did not specify what the demands of his kidnappers. "I am not guilty in the abduction, the government is challenged by its external actions," he adds. "For my family, do not get worried. I am treated well. I kiss you and I love you all, "he concludes.This is the 7th French hostage to be held by islamist terrorist groups in the Sahel.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the hostage's identity in the video, according to the daily newspaper Le Figaro.
