Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, Kerry Kennedy, on the situation of human rights in the Moroccan Sahara, pointing to a rather "biased" approach that is not worthy of a Human Rights NGO.

In a right of reply sent to the website of US satellite channel CNN, the Minister stressed that in the article published on January 24, Ms. Kennedy "repeated allegations and unfounded accusations about the situation of Human rights in the southern provinces, which don't fit with the reality on the ground.

This omission is all the more serious as the article coincided with the protest movements led by the populations sequestered in Tindouf, which has been witnessing ongoing and systematic human rights violations on a large scale by the Polisario and its militias.

The minister recalled that Morocco takes pride in what it has achieved in the field of human rights, particularly in the southern provinces, where a "significant progress" was made, noting that "2011 was marked by the creation of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), an independent national authority with consolidated powers of inquiry and investigation, and two regional commissions to Laayoune and Dakhla.
