Istiqlal says it will quit government and calls for early elections

Members of the Executive Committee of the Istiqlal party are behind this call.Hamid Chabat, secretary general of the party No. 2 government, Istiqlal, demanded the release of the party from the coalition government and called for early parliamentary elections.

Arab language press reports  indicated that those behind this threat to topple the government are prominent members of the Executive Committee of the Istiqlal party; They urge  Hamid Chabat, to break the alliance with the Islamist party leading the government, the PJD.
 
Sources the party, said that Chabat has responded to this call, promising to leave the government if Abdelilah Benkirane  does not comply with the Istiqlal memorandum  demand for a cabinet reshuffle.
 
Istiqlal is second party in terms of the number of seats in the House of Representatives after the PJD, and relations between the two parties, pillars of the coalition government, deteriorated sharply after the rise of the head of Istiqlal’s very   ' populist ' new secretary general, Hamid Chabat.
