Initiative 5+5 Defense: Morocco Participates in Maritime Security Exercise Seaborder-2014
Madrid - Morocco will take part, on September 25, in the multinational maritime security exercise 'Seaborder-014' in the Spanish waters, the Spanish Defense Ministry said.

Naval and air forces of Spain, Morocco, Portugal and Algeria will participate in these drills, which are part of the '5+5 Initiative', made up of European and African nations from the Western Mediterranean: Portugal, France, Italy, Malta, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Libya, Algeria and Tunisia.

On this occasion, the participating forces will conduct a naval parade on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the initiative '5 +5 defense', the ministry said in a statement.

The 5+5 Dialogue was launched in 1983 by France, but took shape in July 1990. The aim was to promote cooperation between the countries bordering the western Mediterranean, including France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, later joined by Malta (the North bank) and Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia (the South bank).
