IRPP chairman highlights Sovereign's genuine commitment to consolidation of rule of law, democracy
Washington - The bill on the exclusion of civilians from the jurisdiction of the military court regardless of the crime committed, which was approved by the Council of Ministers, chaired on Friday by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reflects the "genuine commitment of the Sovereign to the consolidation of the rule of law and democracy," Joe Grieboski, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Washington-based "Institute on Religion and Public Policy" (IRPP).

"This decision demonstrates not only the commitment but also the special attention paid by the Sovereign to the consolidation of the democratic process in the Kingdom, an approach of human rights and governance that further distinguishes the Morocco countries in the region," Grieboski told MAP.
The US expert recalled that President Barack Obama had commended, in the joint communiqué issued following the November 19 meeting with His Majesty the King, "the Sovereign's commitment to ending the practice of trials of civilians before military courts.
" Joe Grieboski also noted that while Morocco strives, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to consolidate good governance, human rights and the rule of law, with an unwavering commitment to South-South cooperation, "Algeria seems to take quite a different path as daily demonstrations against political deadlock continue and are faced with brutality."
