Moroccan MPs Amina Maelainine from the Justice and Development Party (PJD) and Mohamed Lahjouji from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), took part in round-table discussions on the sidelines of the UNHRC to highlight the experience of the Kingdom in terms of interaction with international human rights bodies.

"We wanted to highlight the position held by civil society in the new Constitution which enshrines the right to establishing associations and ensure all legal guarantees for NGOs," Lahjouji told MAP. Civil society was given the right to submit petitions to public authorities, not to mention citizens' guaranteed right to submit proposals of a legislative nature, within the framework of the law, he said.
