The Royal Moroccan  Armed Forces have been maximum alert along the belt along the border strip, Moroccan Saharan provinces in the south.

According to media reports, citing sources close to the Moroccan security environments, a series of meetings of the High Command of the Moroccan Royal Armed forces, took place last week, to raise levels of vigilance, and joint and inter-services coordination , to prohibit incursion  by 'terrorists'  on Algerian and Moroccan territory.

Indeed, the claim by the leader of 'signatories by blood', the Algerian Mokhtar Belmokhtar, that the bloody attack of the base at In Amenas was accompanied by a threat that his group had attacked Algeria for having allowed its territory to be overflown by  French aircraft for attacks on northern Mali, promising the same fate for all allies of France in the war, amongst them,  Morocco.

The Moroccan Royal armed forces is confonting this threat as is the Royal Gendarmerie in the urban fringes and in major roads and sensitive areas of the kingdom.

This allowed BNPJ in coordination with the DGST on Saturday 19 January to dismantle a  recruitment cell  for AQIM fighters, which operated in the  towns of Fnidek, Tangier, Al Hoceima and Meknes.
