Health ministry denies any cases of coronavirus in Morocco, offers prevention recommendations to Moroccans pilgrims

Rabat - The Ministry of Health assured Wednesday that no cases of the Middle East respiratory syndrome (coronavirus MERS) has been recorded so far in Morocco, urging Moroccans wishing to perform Hajj or Umrah to avoid contracting the virus.

The ministry urged in a statement Moroccan citizens, wishing to go to the holy sites to perform Hajj or Umrah, to observe a series of recommendations to prevent the spread of contagious respiratory infections in general, including those caused by coronaviruses by following the information and health tips in the brochures provided to them before they leave the country.

The ministry also recommended wearing protective masks in public places which will greatly help prevent the disease and taking the necessary precautions related to public and personal hygiene to increase disease prevention.
