HCP Adopts New Industrial, Energy and Mining Production Index

Rabat - The High Commission for Planning (HCP) has announced the adoption of a new base year 2015 instead of 2010 as the industrial, energy and mining production index. This new series was marked by the updating of the sample of products and companies, the revision of the weighting structure and the adoption of the Moroccan list of activities of the year 2010 instead of that of 1999, said a press release by HCP. The new reference basket contains 436 articles instead of 378 and that the products' weightings have been updated on the basis of new data on the production structure derived from the structure survey carried out by the HCP in 2014, said the same source. The HCP will publish on its website quarterly and annual indices of the new production index for the period from 2016 to 2019, the press release concluded.
