'Great Pride' of Sahara Inhabitants Following US Decision (Laayoune Municipal Council Pdt)
Laayoune - The entire population of the Sahara expresses its "great pride" for this "historic victory" of the royal diplomacy in the defense of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the consecration of its sovereignty over its southern provinces, said the president of the municipal council of Laayoune, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid. Commenting the decision of the United States to recognize the full and entire sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara, Mr. Ould Errachid has welcomed the "great diplomatic victories" obtained by Morocco over the past few years and which led to the announcement of the US decision on Thursday during a telephone conversation between HM King Mohammed VI and US President Donald Trump.
"We reaffirm, as legitimate representatives of the population, our unwavering and unconditional support for all decisions and initiatives undertaken by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in all fields and at all levels", he said in a statement released Thursday evening. The president of the Municipal Council of Laayoune seized this opportunity to call on all populations from the southern provinces, living in the Tindouf camps, in southern Algeria, or those in other countries, to support the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco, under the leadership of HM the King, as the only solution for the settlement of this artificial conflict and to achieve dignity and development for all inhabitants.
