First Moroccan-Ghanaian joint committee opens in Rabat

Rabat - The first Moroccan-Ghanaian joint committee started, on Thursday in Rabat, under the chairmanship of foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar and Ghanaian counterpart Hanna Serwaah Tetteh.

Speaking on the opening of this session, Mezouar said that the meeting will enable to set the agenda and prospects for a new Moroccan-Ghanaian partnership, affirming that the two sides agreed to exchange visits by businessmen, boost bilateral relations economically and institutionally and strengthen ties between MPs and associations from the two countries. 

The important presence of Ghanaian officials in this meeting shows the shared will to build strong south-south ties, establish an open partnership as part of a permanent political dialogue, and spur bilateral investment dynamic, Mezouar said.

Tetteh underlined that this meeting, which lays the ground for a solid partnership, offers the opportunity to examine several issues of common interest as transportation, trade, tourism, mining and energy, and to engage in political consultations.

This session was marked by the signature of four memorandums of understanding on the reinforcement of cooperation between Ghana's exportations body and Moroccan counterpart "Maroc Export", cooperation in favor of Ghanaian students, technicians and professionals, technical training and sea trade.

Another agreement on the promotion of trade was inked by minister delegate for foreign trade Mohamed Abbou and Ghanaian minister in charge of trade and industry Kweku Ricketts Hagan.
