European Commission: Energy cooperation, an important element of EU-Morocco partnership
"The EU supports the Moroccan energy strategy with substantial financial aid to solar and wind projects and a budget support program in favor of the overall reform of the energy sector", said the European official in an answer to Euro-MP Gilles Pargneaux on reinforcement of EU-Morocco cooperation in Energy.

"The EU is also negotiating a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), which includes a discussion on specific provisions on renewable energy", he added.

"In the framework of the Joint Communication on Supporting closer cooperation and regional integration in the Maghreb', the EU is also trying to further encourage the promotion of regional integration, notably in the energy sector", said Oettinger.

The EU's support program to the energy sector, which ends in December 2014, is worth 76.6 million Euros. It features pilot energy-efficiency projects in construction, a feasibility study on the pertinence of photovoltaic use and twinning between the two sides' institutions.
