Essaouira: 68 Vaccination Stations Mobilized as Part of Mass Vaccination Operation against Covid-19 (Official)

Essaouira - The Provincial Health Delegation in Essaouira has mobilized 68 vaccination stations and 72 medical teams as part of the mass vaccination operation against Covid-19 at the provincial level, affirmed, Thursday, Provincial Delegate Zakaria Aït Lahcen. Of these 68 stations, four are located in the commune of Essaouira in addition to a fixed vaccination point at the city level, while the rest is distributed between the various local authorities within the province, said Aït Lahcen in a statement to MAP. As for the vaccination teams, they are made up of 183 nurses, 23 doctors, members of the Moroccan Red Crescent (CRM) and students of the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions (ISPITS) who underwent special training sessions, he said, underlining the collective mobilization of all health professionals, at the provincial level, in order to guarantee the success of this large-scale operation. In this context, the official affirmed that the first phase of the preparations for this large anti-Covid vaccination campaign had started with the determination of the beneficiary population, estimated at 244,392 inhabitants in the province of Essaouira, aged over 18 years, indicating that the Provincial Health Delegation will receive nearly 513,000 vaccine doses. A batch of tablets was also distributed to the vaccine teams in order to enable them to enter the data and make daily reports concerning this large-scale operation, said Aït Lahcen.

He added that the Delegation has also acquired the necessary logistical means, in particular the acquisition of refrigerators and isothermal boxes, given that this type of vaccine requires a very precise temperature and very specific storage conditions. With regard to the management of the cold chain, particularly in terms of storage to guarantee optimal and favorable conditions for the conservation of the anti-Covid vaccine, the Provincial Delegate specified that the province has a cold room at the level Essaouira and another as an intermediate warehouse in the commune of Talmest. Aït Lahcen said that two refrigerated trucks were made available to the Provincial Health Delegation with the mission of ensuring, in coordination with the provincial authorities, the delivery of vaccines from the storage depots to the different vaccination stations, while scrupulously respecting the cold chain.
