Emirati official : UAE donation reflects support of Abu Dhabi for development projects in Morocco

Abu Dhabi - The 1.25 billion-dollar Emirati donation to Morocco embodies the interest shown by the United Arab Emirates to support development projects in the Kingdom, said Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.

In a statement released Tuesday in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Morocco and The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development on granting the donation, Mr. Al Suwaidi said the grant illustrates the interest of the UAE in accordance with the guidance of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support development programs launched by the Kingdom.

He also recalled "the strong ties between the UAE and Morocco at all levels", stressing the vital role this donation can play in lending support to various ambitious development plans undertaken by the Moroccan government, and in contributing to sustainable socio-economic development in the Kingdom.

Al Suwaidi noted that Morocco is considered among "the Arab countries benefiting the most from the loans and grants offered by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development since its creation."
