Rabat - There are no declared cases of the deadly Ebola disease in Morocco, said Tuesday in Rabat minister of Health El Houssaine Louardi.

The minister, who was speaking at an oral session in the House of Councillors, added that his department has taken in coordination with other concerned services, all necessary measures to address any potential case of this virus.

Among these measures, Louardi notably mentioned tightening control measures in airports, equiping national laboratories with necessary installations to ensure rapid tests for suspected cases and providing appropriate infrastructures for optimal medical care for potential cases.

Concerning the government's request to postpone the 2015 African Cup of Nations scheduled for next January and February, Moroccan health official said the request was based on his recommendations and draws legitimacy from international health regulations.

The health ministry had recommended avoiding gatherings involving countries affected by the Ebola virus in order to prevent its spreading.
