The Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan started on Sunday in Saudi Arabia, the kingdom's religious authorities announced.
 
Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen,  Algeria Libya and the United Arab Emirates also announced the celebration to be marked on Sunday, following the sighting of the new moon that will mark the beginning of the lunar month of Shawal, which follows the fasting month of Ramadan in the Muslim hijri calendar.

The Eid Al-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, August 20 in Morocco, the crescent moon marking the beginning of 1433 of the Hegira Choual was not been observed, announced the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

The holy month of Ramadan has 30 days and 1 Shawwal and Eid Al Fitr this year 1433 will be  Monday, August 20, 2012.

The Moroccan people will  also celebrate on Monday, the 59th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, a landmark event in the history of contemporary Morocco in that it constitutes a milestone in the struggle of the Moroccan people, under the lmeadership of the Alawite throne, for the defense of the nation and its liberation from the yoke of colonialism. It illustrates the symbiosis between the throne and the people in the struggle for independence
 
 In Morocco clocks go forward one hour at 2 am reverting to Moroccan summer time.
