EU says royal migration initiative 'very relevant', 'unprecedented leap'
The report by rights council CNDH and its ratification by HM the King is an unprecedented qualitative leap and a gesture which shows Morocco's maturity and steadfast will to address the challenges facing it, said Soenke Schmidt from the EU delegation in Geneva.

Schmidt, who was speaking on behalf of the EU and its member states as part of the side event initiated by Morocco on the theme "African alliance on migration and development" on the sidelines of the 68th UNGA, said that Morocco fully assumes its role of regional power and its status of transit and host country.

He voiced the EU's satisfaction with the very concrete proposals to set up a migration policy, which is fair and efficient, to manage immigration influx.
