DGSN: Creation of 14 New Security Structures in 2020 (Report)

Rabat - The National Security (DGSN) created 14 new security structures in 2020, following its action report aimed at strengthening police territorial structures and generalizing security coverage in new urban centers.  The creation of these new security structures, including the completion of the implementation of the new division of the provincial police services of the city of Salé, with the creation of the fourth police district "Salé Al-Madina", allowed to strengthen the security presence and the proximity of police services in this city, said on Thursday the DGSN in a press release on its 2020 report.  A police district station and a police district were also created in Imouzzer Kandar, in response to the urban expansion and demographic growth of this city, in addition to the creation of two police districts in Meknes and Souk Larbaa of Gharb, three groups for the protection of sensitive sites in Oujda, Meknes and Nador, in addition to a mobile grouping to keep order in the city of Beni Mellal and five mobile campaigns to keep order in Khouribga, Taza, Ouarzazate, El Jadida and Safi. 

The Cavalry School under the DGSN was restructured at the organizational and functional levels, becoming a central division attached to the Directorate of Public Security and which supervises field units leading mobile patrols and participating in security and law enforcement operation.  In response to the multiple challenges linked to terrorist threats and to security in general, the statement went on, the decentralized security services have been reinforced by a number of units and teams specializing in the detection and defusing of explosives.  In fact, five regional brigades of bomb disposal experts have been set up at the police prefectures of Rabat, Marrakech, Casablanca, Tangier and Agadir and have benefited from technical and practical training.

They have been equipped with eight high-tech vehicles with robots and sophisticated means to locate and defuse explosives remotely, while guaranteeing the necessary precautions in dealing with all the dangers and risks associated with explosive devices, the same source added.  In order to guarantee efficiency and preparation in the fight against the new emerging forms of crimes, five new anti-gang brigades "BAG" were created in the cities of Casablanca, Kénitra, Tangier, Oujda and Agadir, and provided with human and logistical resources, as units specializing in the fight against criminal networks.  It also involves the establishment of a regional laboratory for the analysis of digital traces at the level of the Tetouan police prefecture, as a new technical support mechanism in the field of digital and technological expertise, in addition to strengthening the regional scientific and technical police services, through the establishment of eleven new judicial identification services in the Mehdia police districts and police stations in Kariat Ba Mohamed, Goulmima, Aïn Beni Mathar, Zaiou, Al Aroui, Figuig, Beni Ensar, Tikiouine, Oulad Teima and Targuist. 

The announcement of the 2020 DGSN report confirms the communication approach adopted over the past five years by the national security services, with a view to highlighting the efforts made to ensure the safety of citizens, the achievements in the field of modernizing security services and structures and mechanisms for implementing good governance in the management of human and financial resources in police public services.
