Cuban Ambassador Insists on Importance of Deeper Understanding between Moroccans and Cubans
Rabat – Javier Domokos Ruiz, the Cuban ambassador to Morocco, insisted on Monday in Rabat on the importance of creating a deeper understanding between Cuban and Moroccan peoples.
"We only know one another through what others have written on us, and I believe that it is essential that we learn to appreciate each other through our own writings and exchange of visits", said Domokos Ruiz in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), after the signing of a cooperation agreement between MAP and the Latin American News Agency (Prensa Latina).
In this respect, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the importance of the press and the exchange of information between the two parties, believing that the signing of this agreement is a concrete step in this direction.
He also noted that the agreement acts as a reinforcement for Cuban-Moroccan relations, which will be embodied by the opening of a Cuban embassy in Rabat, emphasizing the role of the press in boosting these ties.
In addition, the diplomat referred to the many similarities shared between the two nations, particularly the “ancestral history of the struggle against colonialism and foreign forces to build an independent and prosperous country.”
Relations between Morocco and Cuba have experienced a renewed dynamic since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Rabat and Havana in April 2017, after a 37-year-old break.
