This brings to 15,745 the number of cases since the first case was reported in the kingdom in March, and to 12,283 the number of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of about 78 percent, said Hind Ezzine, head of the department of epidemic diseases at the ministry of Health's Directorate of Epidemiology.

The number of deaths rises to 250 with five new fatalities, i.e. a case-fatality rate of 1.6%, she added, noting that 92% of the 203 new cases were detected through the contact tracing system.

As for the geographical distribution of new cases, 21 contaminations were reported in the Casablanca-Settat region (including 18 cases in Casablanca, 1 in El Jadida and 2 in Mohammedia), 71 in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (including 61 in Tangier), 38 in Fez-Meknes and 7 in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra.

With regard to active cases, she noted that 3,212 people are currently under treatment, including 31 cases in intensive care, because of their age or the fact that they suffer from a chronic disease.

The ministry urged citizens to observe preventive measures, including the correct wearing of protective masks, regular hand washing, respect for physical distance and the use of the "wiqaytna" application, as well as the regular activation of Bluetooth to reinforce and ensure the tracing of contact persons.
