Coronavirus pandemic ‘under control’, but that does not mean that the virus has disappeared: Head of Government

Rabat - Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani, said Thursday that the coronavirus pandemic is under control but that does not mean that the virus has disappeared or that precautionary measures are no longer necessary. Speaking at the beginning of the Government’s Council, El Otmani underlined the need to observe the necessary health and precautionary measures to curb the spread of the pandemic, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Government’s Spokesperson, Saaid Amzazi, said at a press briefing held at the end of the Cabinet meeting.

Controlling the pandemic in addition to the close monitoring of the epidemiological situation and the vigilance of all the concerned parties have encouraged the government to continue implementing its plan for the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, while extending the state of health emergency, which represents the legal framework for taking all necessary measures to face any negative development of the pandemic, he added. El Otmani expressed his optimism on the vigilance of the Moroccan people, and his pride in the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to continue facing the pandemic and successfully mitigate its social and economic repercussions.
