Samedi 11 Avril 2020

Rabat - The variations observed from one day to another in the figures relating to the geographicalal spread of Covid-19 cases in Morocco are due to the verification process of data, said on Friday director of epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi.

"The daily variations in figures, particularly those regarding the geographical spread of the virus, are mainly due to verification process of data collected during the epidemiological investigation that took place after the cases had been reported," he pointed out in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 channel and Rim Radio.

"Some preliminary information can be corrected, in particular as regards the city of residence and not the city of admission of the case, as well as the verification and correction of data relating to the origin of the infection and the conditions of exposure", he said.

According to him, seventy-four new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Morocco over the past 24 hours until Friday at 6 p.m., bringing the total number of cases in the country to 1,448.

He added that 5,791 suspected cases were excluded following negative tests.

Ten new coronavirus-related deaths were registered, bringing the total number of fatalities to 107, while 13 additional recoveries were reported, which rises the total number of recovered covid-19 patients to 122, El Youbi pointed out.

Regarding the geographical spread of the virus, the region of Casablanca-Settat is the hardest-hit one with approximately 30% of the total number of cases, ahead of Marrakech-Safi (19%), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (15%) and Fez-Meknes (12%), he said.
