Rabat - Ninety-one (91) cases of infection with the coronavirus (Covid-19) have been confirmed in Morocco in the past 24 hours, bringing to 1,275 the total number of cases of contamination, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday. The number of people declared as recovered rose, until Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., to 97 cases (4 additional recoveries), while that of deaths reached 93, after reporting three new deaths in the past 24 hours, said the director of epidemiology and fight against diseases at the Ministry of Health Mohamed El Youbi in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel, M24 and RIM RADIO.

By regions, Casablanca-Settat still has the highest number of cases with almost a third of contamination in the Kingdom, he said, noting that the regions of Marrakech-Safi and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra account for a third of infection cases. The rest of the cases have been reported in other regions, notably Fez-Meknès and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima. The official also noted that two first cases were recorded in the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, saying that the average age of the confirmed cases rose to 47.5 years. On the health status of the confirmed cases, El Youbi said that more than 16% were symptom-free, 71% were mild, and 13% were in serious condition. Most of the cases reported in recent days have been detected thanks to the medical monitoring of the people contacted as evidenced by the analyses carried out at the laboratory, said the director, specifying that out of a total of 8,600 people contacted, 445 contaminations by the virus were confirmed. He once again called for the strict compliance with hygiene rules, notably frequent hand washing and face mask wearing to limit the spread of Covid-19.
