Complain against DGST: French Senators urge French authorities to provide "clear, urgent explanations about inacceptable approach"

Paris - A number of French Senators have strongly demanded that "urgent and detailed explanations be provided by the French authorities about the complaint filed by an association against the Director General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST)" regarding charges of an alleged "complicity in torture in Morocco."

In a statement issued on Monday, chairman of the French-Moroccan friendship group at the French Senate, Christian Cambon and members of the bureau of the group described as "unacceptable" this approach, noting that "this serious and unprecedented incident is likely to undermine the trust and mutual respect between Morocco and France."

French senators have also regretted that the presence of seven French police officers at the residence of the Ambassador of Morocco in France "took place while Morocco provides unwavering support to our country" in Mali and the Sahel. Christian Cambon and the members of the bureau of the friendship group, "condemn the use of such methods which are contrary to all diplomatic practices and agreements between France and Morocco," the source added.
