Laayoune - Civil society representatives in the region of Laayoune - Boujdour - Sakia El Hamra reiterated Saturday in Laayoune, in a meeting with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Christopher Ross, their commitment to the Moroccan autonomy plan as the only solution to the artificial conflict over the Sahara.

These civil society members and human rights activists told the press after the meeting that they expressed their commitment to the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a realistic solution that enjoys full international support, noting that the proposal guarantees the dignity, freedom and rights of the Sahrawi population.

They also assured the UN official that the Saharawi people are attached to the autonomy initiative in which they were involved through the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs.

They also called Ross to find, as soon as possible, a final solution to this artificial conflict that has lasted too long, recalling the international situation and the challenges faced by the world, including the impact of this artificial conflict on the stability of the Maghreb, the Sahel and Sahara.
