China Increases investment in Algeria

China is active in Algerian constructio. More than 30,000 Chinese are currently working in Algeria in various sectors including construction and public works, said the Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Liu Yuhe on Saturday in Algiers.

“More than 30,000 are working in Algeria in sectors such as building and construction of roads and rail infrastructure. They also contribute to the development of the water sector in the country,” he told the APS on the sidelines of a tree planting ceremony in the “high winds park” in the western suburbs of Algiers.

 

Mr. Yuhe said that there are about 50 Chinese “large enterprises” active in various sectors in Algeria. He noted that the amount of Chinese investment in the Algerian economy reached $1.5 billion at the end of 2012, clarifying that this amount represents the aggregate of the past ten years.
 

Beijing has invested more than $1.5 billion (1.1 billion euros) over the past decade in Algeria, where 50 top Chinese companies and 30,000 workers are based, media reported on Sunday.

 

By the end of 2012, China’s total investments in the North African country over the past decade reached $1.5 billion, Beijing’s ambassador to Algiers Liu Yuhe told the daily Liberte.
