Central African Republic urges Morocco to keep its contingent in MINUSCA

In a letter to its Moroccan peer, minister of foreign affairs, African integration and Francophonie of the Central African Republic Samuel Rangba urged the Kingdom of Morocco to maintain its contingent in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) to continue the mission of ensuring the country's security and stabilization in accordance with the UN mandate.

The Central African minister underlined in the letter that the Moroccan contingent's contribution in the MINUSCA was very appreciated and helped in the country's internationally-lauded election process, as well as in the gradual return to peace and security.

The request by the minister of foreign affairs, African integration and Francophonie, on behalf of the government of the Central African Republic, comes following the latest visit of the UNSG to the region and his statement on the occasion.

Rangba also reaffirmed his country's unwavering stance in favor of the plan proposed by Morocco under the UN aegis to settle the Moroccan Sahara issue and reiterated the support of the Central African Republic for Morocco in its legitimate quest to defend its territorial integrity.
