Rabat – The Casablanca judicial police arrested on Wednesday six individuals, aged between 19 and 27, for their alleged involvement in the usurpation of functions governed by the law with a view to filming and publishing videos of misleading misrepresentations and undermining the sense of security.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, the suspects impersonated police officers by using motorcycles and wireless communication devices similar to those used by national security elements in order to simulate criminal operations and fictitious arrests on the streets, according to a statement by the national police (DGSN), specifying that the suspects were filming these operations in order to broadcast them on social networks.

The DGNS are currently investigating these contents, their origins and their real motivations, added the same source.

The search operations carried out in this case resulted in the seizure of wireless communication devices, plastic pistols and "T-Max" motorcycles, as well as mobile phones used to film the fictitious security interventions, the same source pointed out.

The suspects have been placed in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, while investigations are under way to determine the ins and outs of these criminal acts, the statement concluded.
