British Embassy Convoy attacked in Benghazi

A British Embassy convoy has been attacked in Benhghazi but a British Embassy spokeswoman said that tehre were no injures according to Reuters.

The incident follows the use of a home made bomb against the US Consulate  building last week and  in may a rocket propelled grenade hit the offices of the International Red Cross. Last month the convoy of the head of the UN mission in Libya,Ian Martin  was also attacked in Benghazi.

A number of islamic groups hostile to western interests are  in Benghazi. The security situation is of concern for the
foreign companies operating  in Libya and EU Monitors for the upcoming elections.

At least 16 people including women and children have reportedly been killed in fighting in Kufra between government forces and tribal fighters in Kufra in the South of Libya.

The election committee has announce the postponement of elections from 19 June to 7 July 2012.
