Britain wants to develop a large number of investment projects in Algeria (Lord Risby)

Britain expects to achieve "a significant number" of investment projects in Algeria to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, Lord Richard Risby, Special Representative of the British Prime Minister for Economic Partnership with Algeria.said on Thursday in Algiers

"We have agreed on a number of investment projects Algerian-British we hope to achieve in Algeria," said Lord Risby, in a statement to APS after a meeting with the Minister of Industry, SME and Investment Promotion, Mr. Cherif Rahmani.
 
As well as oil and gas exploration and the service and support sectors with Shell and BP, British companies are involved in the construction sector and there is considerable interest  in developing renewable energy projects. British companies have been involved in the water and water treatment sector for sometime.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)is working in the pharmaceutical sector and HSBC is also established in Algiers.The Algerian insurance market is also important with the links to the City of London and Lloyds. David Cameron also said during his visit that English language teaching  and training should be stepped up.

Algeria is also an important market for British defence companies and the security industry which has had a strong presence in the hydrocarbon sector is likely to grow.The visit of British Prime Minister David Cameron to Algeria was "a great success," said Lord Risby.
 
Accompanied by a large ministerial delegation, Mr Cameron ended  a working visit and friendship of two days in Algeria on Thursday.
