Brussels – "Agence Europe" highlighted the commitment of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, to "promote the 'Euro-Moroccan Partnership for shared prosperity'".

This ambition was expressed by both sides at a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, the European news agency said, citing a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS) issued at the end of the meeting.

"The EU-Morocco Partnership is more necessary than ever", had said Borrell and Bourita, stressing that the EU and Morocco should join their efforts to "stimulate regional cooperation for the benefit of stability, prosperity and inclusive development and in order to better respond to regional and global challenges".

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara, the agency noted that both parties had reiterated their support for the UN political process aimed at "reaching a just, realistic, pragmatic, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution", based on compromise in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

It added that Borrell had urged all parties to continue their commitment in a spirit of realism and compromise.
