Benkirane: The security situation in Morocco is "controlled"

Abdelilah Benkirane, said on Monday in Rabat that the security situation in Morocco is "controlled" by noting that the relevant departments there is no insecurity.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the House of Representatives devoted to issues of policy, Benkirane said that the security situation in Morocco is characteriszed by stability.
 
"There are no worrying signs of a possible situation of insecurity," he said. The crime rate has not increased during the past decade and has grown from 400,300 in 2002 to 445,566 crimes in 2011, continued the head of government, noting that more than 65 percent of these crimes were committed in urban .
 
Benkirane said the crime rate in Morocco remains low compared to similar states, ensuring that "the security situation is under control."
 
In this sense, he pointed out that despite the events occurring in North Africa and the Sahel-Saharan region, no travel ban in Morocco has been issued by a foreign country.
 
Referring to the efforts made by the services responsible for maintaining security in 2012, Benkirane said that nearly 560,000 cases were treated, of which 53 per cent relate to damage to persons and property, adding that 480,000 cases were been elucidated, a clearance rate of 86 pc of cases handled.
 
In addition, some 400,000 people have been brought to justice, including 17,000 children, he said.
