And international seminar on promotion of mediation in Mediterranean opens in Rabat

The meeting is part of meetings schedules in the Morocco-Spain action plan given that the two parties are presidents of the Moroccan-Spanish initiative on the promotion of mediation in the Mediterranean, which was officially launched in September 2012 during the ministerial meeting held on the sidelines of the 67th UNGA.

It is a follow-up of the first meeting held in Madrid on February 11-12, 2013. The two events seek to lay the bases for a Mediterranean dynamic on mediation with the help of government experts, researchers and academics, and establish a network for mediation actors in the Mediterranean area.

The two-day seminar will discuss several topics including "mediation as tool for peaceful settlement of disputes and as an effective means of governance", "the role of training, education and research in the development of a culture of mediation in the Mediterranean region", and "the role of civil society, women and think tanks in mediation".
