During this meeting, Amrani lauded the remarkable relations between Morocco and the EU which are distinguished by the shared strategic will that privileges the emergence of an area of shared values and a Moroccan-European economic zone as part of the advanced status between the two parties.

While commending the decisive steps taken in the implementation of the advanced status, at the political, economic and human levels, Amrani said that Morocco, given the success of its major endogenous reforms carried out under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, remains committed to continuously enhancing its partnership with the EU on the basis of a common vision and shared interests. The minister deemed that carrying out several concrete actions contributes to reinforcing a rich and unique relationship between the two parties, making Morocco the most advanced country under the European Neighborhood Policy.

In the context of the current crisis, the region needs Morocco more than ever, a country that has initiated a process of exceptional reforms, said Leon, noting that the Kingdom is considered an exceptional partner for the EU. The EU special representative said the partnership between Morocco and the EU will be further strengthened given the crisis situation in the region.

Bernardino Leon is representing Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in the second international seminar on the promotion of mediation in the Mediterranean held July 8-9 in Rabat.
