Speaking at a meeting on "trade relations between the EU and Morocco" in Casablanca, Joy said that since the first EU-Morocco trade agreement in 1969, the EU has become the most important partner of the Kingdom and the first foreign investor in Morocco.

He pointed out that bilateral trade has more than doubled in the last decade thanks to the implementation of several agreements: the free trade area for industrial products, the agricultural agreement, the agreement on the settlement of disputes and the launch of negotiations on fishing.

For the head of the Commercial Section of the EU Delegation to Morocco, Moya-Diaz, the new developments in the negotiations on the deep and comprehensive FTA go beyond trade liberalization and the abolition of customs duties on goods, as they reduce non-tariff barriers, liberalize trade in services, provide investment protection and harmonize regulations in several areas.
