"I looked at the Moroccan newspapers this morning and I was impressed by the fact that the debate about illegal immigration, a thorny issue for Morocco, has become public. This is true transparency," said the British official at a meeting to commemorate the second anniversary of the launch of the Arab Partnership Program, funded by the United Kingdom.

"The government is really committed to the issue of illegal immigration, and is talking about it openly in public," he added.

Burt welcomed the commitment of the Kingdom, King and government, to constitutional reforms, including the adoption of the Constitution of July 2011.

"Morocco has unmatched stability at the regional level, thanks to the constitutional reforms it has undertaken, and it has become a coveted destination for Arab and foreign investment," said the British minister.

In addition, Burt said some ? 2.5 million has been allocated to fund the Arab Partnership Program for Morocco to support the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen political participation, consolidate good governance, improve access to information, and fight corruption.

This program, launched in 2011 at the UK initiative, aims to enhance political participation by building trust between State institutions and the public, he said.
