Speaking during the installation ceremony of a committee in charge of improving business environment in Algeria, the minister underlined the government’s willingness to first simplify administrative procedures for investors.

The business climate "is not very favourable due to lack of coordination, follow-up and appropriate evaluation," Rahmani told the members of the committee, composed of representatives of the ministries of Industry, Housing, Finance, Justice, Labour and Employment, employers organizations and the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA).

The main objective of the committee is to make concrete decisions to progress in the next Doing Business ranking, he said, deploring the fact that Algeria ranks 153rd out of 180 economies.
